This list below is not at all comprehensive. There are many more scriptures you can quote from. This gives you a start and will help you help others to understand their need for Christ. All the scripture verses given below should be learned by heart, with their references.
- Show the NEED of salvation. Show that by nature we are all sinners:
- Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
- Show that WE CANNOT SAVE OURSELVES. If we are to be saved, someone outside ourselves must do it for us! Emphasis this truth as it is contained in the following verses:
- Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
- Show that the Lord Jesus died upon the cross TO PUT AWAY SIN, and that He lives TO SAVE COMPLETELY all who come to God by Him. This truth is made abundantly clear:
- 1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
- We need to show the enquirer that the Lord Jesus is able and willing to forgive:
- 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
- Show that the way to be saved is to BELIEVE IN (i.e. to RECEIVE) the Lord Jesus Christ:
- Romans 10:9-10. that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
- Show that the assurance of salvation does not depend upon FEELINGS but upon WHAT GOD SAYS. If I come to Jesus, He will receive me:
- Romans 10:13 For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Set to work now and underline all the above references in your Bible. Make sure you understand them, learn them, and be ready to find them at a moment’s notice!
Last but NOT least. PRAY! You and I need the supernatural help of the Holy Spirit.
